support for this was added in ticket #405, but only for the python API, not in the C++ API.

Lack of support for this makes getValue() unusable for lists

I don't follow what this ticket exactly means.

ListElement (internally a std::vector) already has a get() method that returns the element at an index.

If you agree this is what this ticket is about, it can be closed.
