Description

For troubleshooting, it may be useful to allow bindctl to query the zone database(s) to bypass DNS server, bypass ACLs, etc. Maybe a DataSrc module, such as:

$ echo datasrc query name=www.example.net class=IN type=A | bindctl
{
  "Zone": "example.net.",
  "Datasrc": "in-memory",
  "name": "www.example.net.",
  "class": "IN",
  "ttl": 1200,
  "type": "A"
}

(Something like that.)

This is a low priority feature request.

I think this could use a better specification and some requirements. I suspect I can come up with something you want but it is probably better to be more explicit. Doesn't have to be a 5-page document, but at least a few pointers would be nice :)

and I think it may be deferred until we have a more concrete and generic
data source/zone configuration framework.

I see the feature could be useful.
